How it works

Four steps, from first call to close

Most of the process is a series of private conversations between you and us.

A private conversation

We talk through your business and what you want from a sale.

A straight valuation

We value the business from its tax returns and financial records. We show you the price we can pay and how we got there.A straight number early, with the reason behind it.

A structure that fits

Your handover period is agreed with you as part of the terms.

A clean close

Once terms are agreed, we aim to close in four to eight weeks.A real close date in weeks, not a listing that sits while the market decides.

What you get

Plain terms from the start.

Everything stays confidential from the first call through to the close.Your staff, customers, and competitors never find out from a listing.

You get a straight answer early. If your asking price is beyond what we can pay, we say so and explain why.

In most cases, your staff stay on and customers keep dealing with the same people.A good business sells because of the people running it. That is how we structure our deals.

Deal structures

How a deal could be structured for you

Every deal is shaped around the business and what you need next. Three structures cover most of what we do.

Cash at close

The full price lands at close. You walk away finished, with nothing owed to you afterward and nothing left to collect.

Seller financing

Part of the price lands at close. The rest comes to you in set payments over an agreed term. You earn interest on the balance, on top of the price. The tax on your gain generally follows the payments, so the bill spreads across years instead of landing in one. A note can also support a stronger price, because the buyer is not limited to what a bank will lend.

Hybrid

A larger down payment lands at close, and the rest sits on a note. Firm payment dates throughout, with a balloon payment by a set date where it fits.

What stands behind the payments

Payments rest on more than a promise. Whatever protections the deal calls for are agreed up front and written into the signed note, with every payment date in writing. Where it fits, a balloon payment carries a set deadline.

The tax point is general information about how installment sales are usually taxed. It is not tax advice, and your own accountant can run your numbers.
